As our artwork for the Virtual Edition Sequel Trilogy continues, this month we showcase that scruffy-lookin' spaceship, The Millennium Falcon.
Our heroes find they have to investigate mysterious goings-on at the Hutt world of Nal Hutta, and rely on a smuggler's skill to get them safely planet-side without attracting attention.
Han expertly lands his ship amongst other local traffic in a nondescript out-of-the-way docking hangar. "Can't see the smugglers for the corellians", as the adage goes, indicating the trick of hiding a ship in plain sight !
Whilst there, Artoo plays a holochess re-match against Han, who would have honed his skills playing against Chewbacca and his preferred "Let the Wookie win" rules !
"How're we doin'?" asked Han of Luke enroute to The Great Pit of Carkoon. "Same as always", replied the young Jedi. "That bad, huh ?", Han quipped.
And sure enough, our heroes get into trouble on Nal Hutta and have to race back to the safety of the Falcon !
Once more in danger and under pursuit, the Millennium Falcon races through the rocky landscape of Kessel. Fans will notice the deliberate nod to Ralph McQuarrie's old concept artwork !
Meanwhile, Leia has been dreaming about her parents. The Force had previously revealed to her images of the "kind but sad" Padmé. Now, with Leia and Han hoping to start a family, recurring dreams are presenting her mother as distraught and grief-stricken.
In this dream sequence created by Nat, when Leia tries to understand this, her mother disappears as Padmé's husband steps forward ... but whom Leia can only see as Darth Vader.
Although Vader, through this 'Force-vision', reveals an image of the Japor carving that he had made as a young slave boy and presented to Padmé, Leia is at a loss as to what this represents, and cannot regard the black visage as anything other than a murderer.......
For the Skywalker family to fully atone and learn from its destiny, Leia must come to terms with the fact that Darth Vader was once her father, Anakin Skywalker.
