Kessel lift-off !
25th August 2011 |
In Episode VII Plague of Doom, our heroes have rescued King Oxus and Princess Alana Seren of Ondos from the Imperial stronghold on Kessel, but now they find themselves surrounded by stormtroopers converging on their position ! Just in the nick of time, their loyal droids R2-D2 and C-3PO have piloted the Millennium Falcon into their midst, and Luke and the others race aboard. |
Han and Chewbacca run into the ship's cockpit, and push the droids out of the way - time is of the essence, and the two pilots need to get airborne and out of blaster range as soon as possible ! |
|
Climbing into the sky above the Imperial soldiers, Luke, now settled into the dorsal gun quad, opens fire upon the stormtroopers ! |
|
You can see the VE artwork in the 'Kessel' art gallery as well as in the online illustrated story, and you can discuss this in the forum here ! |

In the run-up to the Saga's September 2011 release on Blu-Ray, there has suddenly been a slew of reports, articles, and interviews promoting the set, with the Official Site producing a dedicated website for it. TFN received a scoop detailing the content on the extras discs, but here's a brief rundown of the deleted / extended / alternate scenes we can expect to see. Of course, at this stage, and going by the earlier teaser trailers, we can only assume that the scenes are not necessarily effects-complete.

Intriguingly, further audio and visual tinkering has taken place on the films, especially with the OT episodes. For example, TPM now has a digital Yoda, frame extensions have completed missing elements in TESB, and the lightsabre colours in episodes IV, V, and VI have been corrected accordingly (degraded apparently due to film-to-video loss, rather than through any creative decision-making). |
|
Also, a new trailer has been released promoting JW Rinzler's Production Blueprints limited edition tome, and that can be seen here at the book's dedicated site (along with the teaser trailer). It's such a pity that this book is priced so far out of the range of most fans, notwithstanding the physical size of the blueprint reproductions. Still, for whoever is able to purchase this edition, it looks like it'd be an amazing addition to their bookshelf and provide a wonderful insight into the making of the Saga. |
|
Further information has also been recently released regarding the 'Haynes Car Manual' version of the Millennium Falcon. TFN reports that in this LFL authorised edition we can expect "a host of photographs, line art, floor plans, exploded diagrams, and stunning computer-generated artwork... covering operational history, piloting, propulsion, weapons, engineering systems, sensors, and crew facilities".

And finally a teaser summary has been published for the forthcoming Darth Plagueis novel, essentially, but intruigingly, reminding us of two of the most powerful Sith Lords ever seen, one who sought mastery over life and death, and feared losing his powers, the other who sought mastery over the entire Galaxy..... |
