Mace Windu, Jedi culprit ?!
18th January 2003
With the introduction of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the placing of the order for a clone army, and the erasing of data from the Jedi Library, Lucas revealed a whodunnit mystery. And in this thread, many forumers have put forward an argument why Mace Windu might be involved !
Balthazor reminds us that George Lucas explains on the Attack of the Clones dvd commentary that the person who erased the data for Kamino from the Jedi Library will be revealed in Episode III, and that it will be a plot point of some significance. He doesn't believe that Lucas would go to the trouble of having the deceased & unknown Sifo-Dyas be the source of this, and also feels that Count Dooku is "(deliberately) too obvious".
Forumer Darth Michael goes on to describe his theory that it is surely Mace Windu who is the culprit here : he cites the Phantom Menace commentay, "In The Phantom Menace one of the Jedi Council already knows the balance of The Force is starting to slip, and will slip further. It is obvious to this person that The Sith are going to destroy this balance". Mace's line, "If they do break away... you must realize there aren't enough Jedi to protect the Republic. We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers", suggests that he realises a formal army is desperately needed ... and that it is not impossible for Mace to have been approached by Palpatine and his subtle persuasions, believing that what he was doing would ultimately be beneficial to the Republic. He would have assumed the recently deceased persona of Sifo-Dyas, and had the means to access the Jedi Library.
Darth Michael adds that, to him, Mace's reaction to Yoda's discovery of the Kaminoan clones, that the Jedi ought to approach the Senate, shows that the owner of these clones wants to reveal this army that will protect the Republic, a move that is now inevitable and cannot be deflected. Further evidence is argued by Mace's vigorous agreement to Obi-Wan's acknowledgment that the Geonosis Battle would not have been a victory without the clone army.
However, forumers Balthazor and Dutch Master wonder if Chancellor Valorum and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn might not have been the ones to place the order and remove the evidence. Why not add YOUR theories to the mix in this most interesting thread !

Lord Vader deploys his forces !
12th January 2003
The Virtual Edition of Episode III : Revenge of the Sith continues ! This story has been drawn together from various ideas submitted in the VE Forum, primarily to tide us over until we start to learn of the actual production of the final Star Wars instalment !
Lord Darth Vader orders the attack to commence ! Click on the image to go to the scene ... Here we see Anakin Skywalker, Dark Lord of the Sith, deploying his forces against the Jedi hiding on the vulcanic world of Had Abaddon.
Only his anger and hatred fuels him, and his mastery over the Force is all but complete ! One Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi, will stand against this Sith Lord ....
Meanwhile, the force.net is reporting a clue from the famous spy, 'Chyren' . Typically cryptic, he comments on Obi-Wan's hair.
Taking a still from one of the Episode II web-documentaries at starwars.com, I have modified the image to suggest a possible transition from Ewan McGregor to Sir Alec Guiness .... Click on the image to reveal more ....

2003 : The Saga nears completion !
1st January 2003
So ... only another 874 days to go, eh ? ;o)
What will 2003 bring us ? Well, over the coming months, George Lucas will be finalising the script for Episode III, and working closely with the pre-production and production teams, confirming design concepts and digital shooting logisitics. Casting will be considered, and locations, already scouted, will be prepped. And animatics will play a key role in visualising Lucas' final vision for his Saga.
Then between May and September, principal photography will take place, with the first of the scheduled 'pick up' shots completed by the end of the year. ILM will have crew present ensuring that the partial sets and action can be synchronised with their magical work.
Towards the close of the year, ILM will be working in earnest, with modelwork as well as CG. They will be completing exotic settings, and populating the Star Wars Universe with amazing digital characters.
In the meantime, the Virtual Edition will play host to the formidable discussion board, the completion of the fan-inspired Illustrated Virtual Episode III, visualising new rumours as we hear them, and presenting articles to inspire the forum !
