The Opening Scroll for Episode III
27th January 2005
In a surprising move, the official site has revealed the opening scroll for Episode III : Revenge of the Sith ! In fact, it's 'hidden' in an informative article describing the process that was undertaken for the prequel trilogy in re-creating the classic effect of the 'Star Wars scroll'.
Although, to my mind, the opening paragraph of the scroll for ROTS has a different feel to its predecessors, the words immediately bring us up to speed with what is going on in the SW Universe ! As precluded by the novel 'Labyrinth of Evil', the Separatist forces under Count Dooku and the strategist cyborg, General Grievous, have carried out a daring attack at the heart of the Republic, and kidnapped Chancellor Palpatine from his executive offices on Coruscant ! As Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker return from the 'labyrinth', they move to intercept the enemy .... and Episode III opens in a blaze of fire and destruction !
Meanwhile, fansite www.millenniumfalcon.com continues to reveal piecemeal the ROTS plot - be warned, only visit if you are a hardy spoiler fan !
And one of the primary John Williams fansites has confirmed that the maestro will be in London for the first 2 weeks of february recording his score for Revenge of the Sith with the LSO, and reveals that two full days are scheduled for choral work ! 'Duel of the Fates' is about to be reprised ! :o))
Oh look ! Only 111 days to go ...........

Anakin ... or Faust Skywalker ?
15th January 2005
The magazine, Vanity Fair, heralds the approach of Episode III : Revenge of the Sith with a collection of 'portrait' photographs by the famous Annie Leibovitz, and an interview with George Lucas by Jim Windolf. The article not only reviews Lucas' life, but also offers the creator's take on the Saga as a whole and directly reveals insights into the "tragedy" that is Darth Vader, the Faustian tale of Anakin Skywalker succumbing to the dark temptation of wanting to protect and control another's life no matter what.
With a great photograph for the 'family album', stretching across the generations, this magazine will be especially sought after by the fan.
Elsewhere, Genndy Tartakovsky, the Clone Wars Cartoons creator, has revealed that he was persuaded to return to the Star Wars universe by none other than Lucas himself, who directed that the events of the new third series should lead right up into Episode III ! Essentially, Lucas "wanted to tell the story of the scroll" that will be seen opening the final chapter, and through the 'toon medium, he will do so.
And for the subscribers of the Official Site's Hyperspace section, an insight into the production of a Star Wars audiobook is revealed, including what may well be a few lines of dialogue from Revenge of the Sith !

2005 : The Sith will be avenged !
3rd January 2005
Happy New Year ! And it will be, for all Star Wars fans, though not without a few tears to be sure ! On May the 19th, the World will be privileged to witness the final installment in the Saga, Revenge of the Sith, third of six episodes.
What can we expect in the coming months ?
Industrial Light and Magic, the Visual Effects house created by Lucas back in 1975, has April the 2nd as its deadline. John Williams is currently composing a score to be recorded in London with the London Symphony Orchestra in early february, and any additional pick up photography will be taking place around about the same time. Sound effects creation will be completed and laid in to the working cuts of the movie, prior to the final sound mix that would occur during late April and possibly early May. International prints of the film, as well as dubbing and promotional material will now be cranked up in earnest for the May release dates.
And of the promotional material, in the coming months we can expect one or two new trailers, longer and fuller, revealing more dialogue and plot. The tie-in novel and reference books, such as the 'Making Of' and the 'Art Of', are scheduled to be released on April the 2nd, while the soundtrack, with apparently an additional bonus dvd disc, is scheduled for release on May the 3rd. I can't wait ! :o)
While most sites have been fairly quiet over the festive fortnight, one fan site has been spoiling us rotten with images and script descriptions. The millenniumfalcon.com site has, over the last month or so, been revealing such things as the fate of Padmé ; the duels of Masters Yoda, Mace, Saesee Tinn, Kolar, and Kit Fisto ; the history and expertise of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious ; and Anakin's fore-boding nightmares.....
View the spoilers at your peril ;o)
