Obi-Wan becomes Luke's guardian !
22nd March 2003
Yoda entrusts Obi-Wan Kenobi with baby Luke ! Click on the image to go to the scene ... Obi-Wan Kenobi is entrusted with the task of guarding baby Luke Skywalker.
The heroic Jedi enter into exile in the forumers' Episode III, and the Skywalker Twins are spirited away. One will follow a path of political rebellion, the other, a not entirely expected life of stoic duty, coloured with a streak of adventure.
One wonders if both infants were regarded as prime padawan candidates, or if only one was chosen to begin the Jedi Training that is hoped will Return the Jedi to the galaxy .... Only George Lucas knows the answer to that question, though we've been discussing it here !   ;o)

Padmé on Dagobah !
16th March 2003
The forumers' virtual edition of Episode III races to its conclusion, as desperate times send our heroes into hiding !
Yoda and Padmé determine the fate of the Twins ! Click on the image to go to the scene ... Master Yoda and Padmé Amidala Skywalker resolve the safe-keeping of her Twins on the swamp world of Dagobah.
Shortly after, Padmé travels to Alderaan and re-programs the droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, to hide all reference to Skywalker. Padmé ensures her secrets are safe ! Click on the image to see a larger version ...
Meanwhile, George Lucas has recently confirmed NO depiction of hyperspace in the Prequel Trilogy. He explains that the 'surprise' is to be left for Episode IV. So it seems we only have this official 'Image Select' to illustrate the phenomenon from the twilight of the Republic ....

Gavin Bocquet hints at Episode III set designs !
11th March 2003
The Official Site has fired up everyone's imagination with a production update from set designer, Gavin Bocquet.
He confirms sets returning from Episodes I and II as well as two "studio-based" settings from the Original Trilogy ; he notes that his own technical drawings from Return of the Jedi have been used in research ! And he adds that there are at least two new locales, a space-based one, and a new planet.
The new locations, to my mind, seem to be a military installation in space - a proto Death Star ?? - and very likely Alderaan. As far as the OT locations, we seem to have the following contenders :
  • The Death Star
  • The Star Destroyer
  • Yoda's hut
  • Jabba's palace
  • Certainly, we know that Yoda must go into hiding by the close of Episode III ; and Jabba and Bib seem to be familiar with "Jedi Knights" ... the novel, of course, infers a more direct involvement in the Jedi Purge by the Hutt ....
Other fansite news has JediNet.Com report on a new casting rumour of [highlight]James Marsters for Tarkin.

    Obi-Wan retrieves Anakin's lost lightsabre !
    9th March 2003
Click on the image to go to the scene !
The forumer's version of Episode III continues with the scene every fan is impatiently waiting for : the moment when Obi-Wan takes up Anakin's lightsabre following their duel !
How will this scene actually play out in 2005 ?! Where will it take place ? And who will be involved ? We've been discussing this moment in the forum here.
Although it remains fairly quiet on the Episode III news front, the Official Site gives us this article about two of the actors who played Naberries - Padmé's family - in Episode II, the scenes of which were finally revealed on the dvd.
Glancing at the new behind-the-scenes book for Attack of the Clones by Jody Duncan reveals key dates in the production process. Taking this cue, we can infer that costume designs have already been approved, and are currently being made in London ; that set designs have been confirmed, and are currently being built in Sydney ; and that Lucas has a story outline and draft scripts locked down !
    I can't wait !    :o))

New additions to the Virtual Edition !
    1st March 2003
March 2003 is upon us, and an expanded VirtualEdition.net is unveiled !
Let me show you around ...    :o)
To the left immediately below the Star Wars .com headlines you will find a news scroller, linking to articles provided by official sources, from the website to the international magazines.
Conversely, to the right, underneath the random profile images, you will find the latest rumours from the more popular websites. For the time being, this will be hidden from view, and can revealed by dragging your mouse cursor over the section. I intend to keep this as up-to-date as possible !! Although the Virtual Edition has always been spoiler-ridden, this section will allow fans trying to remain clear of rumour material to continue to do so. Similarly, I will 'hide' any such 'news' in this middle editorial section. The Rebel Rumours replaces the Courscant Poll.
Below the rumours lies the link to the Art Gallery. All the fan art will be archived here, and any fan fiction can also be held here.
And finally the Archive section has been improved with JavaScript search fields that will be updated at the end of each month. Now, you can not only click to all the preceeding months, but you can also use the drop-down menus to locate reports highlighted in the editorials ! Additionally, at the bottom of this new-look archive is a navi-menu to allow you to go directly to the forumers'  Virtual Edition of   Episode III !
Oh yes, the repetoire for the music controller has been extended with the Imperial March !    :o))
Remember : any fan-made pics for Episode III are most welcome for either the Virtual Edition or for the new Art Gallery here ! Email them to me via the link at the bottom of the page or post them in the forum here. If they are for the Virtual Edition of Episode III please make their format 470x200px ....
