Second round of Rogue One trailers released !

In early August, the Official site released a second trailer for Rogue One : A Star Wars Story ; this was closely followed by another, "international", trailer that was slightly extended and offered a little more insight and clarity.
The official trailer shows us a range of locales and characters - with dry wit from Captain Andor, prompted by a matter-of-fact fatalistic outlook from his re-programmed once-Imperial droid K2-SO - and closes with a rear shot of Darth Vader's helmet, as the Dark Lord, breathing rythmically, regards full-size tactical displays.
Fan site, SWNN, provides a contextual breakdown here ; while the extended trailer references Jyn's father being involved in the original tip-off to the Rebel Alliance of the Empire's secret super-weapon.

| In addition, composer John Williams confirmed he will "soon be seeing a 'first cut' of Episode VIII" that will allow him to begin writing new music. Presumably, the actual composing, let alone recording, won't be until early to mid 2017 at the earliest ??

| At the end of the month, british actor Ian McDiarmid revealed that he wasn't involved in Rogue One..... though with the glimpse of the Emperor's Royal Guards in the first trailer, one wonders if the character will indeed be present ?! Of course, the current lore implies that Palpatine became more and more secluded from his minions, save for Darth Vader, who was despatched by the Emperor to intervene directly by proxy.

| Also closing the month, Mark Hamill revealed he's now shaved off his "Star Wars beard".... until Episode IX ! Of course, IX's director Colin Trevorrow has already implied both Skywalker Twins will play a role in the final episode.

On August the 10th, the Official Site announced the release of a Collectors Edition for The Force Awakens this autumn. The package will present the film on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, Digital HD, and DVD formats and will comprise the following extra material, in addition to the bonus material first released in April :

| The space battle above Imperial-held Kessel continues in the illustrated fan-fic Episode VII : Plague of Doom. A grim and desperate General Wedge Antilles fears the worst and expects a retreat, but a familiar voice hails across the intercom ! Leia Solo blasts the pursuing TIE fighter from wedge's tail, and soars overhead, the remnants of her 'Devil Squadron' of rookie Jedi pilots and the seven Jedi Elders close behind ! |
