The Prophecy
And in time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as : THE SON OF THE SUN.
And he shall bring Balance to the Force.

Tidbits for Episode IX !
31st December 2018
At the beginning of December, reports surfaced of Episode IX artwork and plot elements being revealed at a Disney marketing conference : the timeframe for the new installment was about a year after Episode VIII The Last Jedi, that there would be lots of planets visited, the 'Knights of Ren' would return in some capacity, a new droid sidekick for BB8, a newly reforged helmet for Kylo Ren and a repaired 'Skywalker' lightsabre for Rey, and a culminating duel between Kylo and Rey.

Presumably, the visual iconography of a re-created helmet implies that Kylo Ren is not (currently) deviating from his dark path, while I do wonder whether a repaired 'Skywalker' sword hilt could indicate that the wielder will turn out to be a Skywalker-Solo ??! Of course, that will no doubt be wishful thinking on my part borne out since the release of The Force Awakens... but surely if Rey is still to be a "nobody" and striking out now on her own heroic path, then her creating her own unique sword would visually emphasise this ? Akin to Luke becoming his own person after the events of Episode V, we saw him wield his own uniquely designed sword. If the 'Skywalker' sword hilt is to be retained (to some degree), then it may be that, out of respect for her momentary esrtwhile mentor, Rey will follow the Jedi tradition and create a new sword inspired by the design of the tutor ; alternatively, she simply salvages the parts that remain, and thus through circumstance and necessity her own sword will mirror that of the infamous Skywalkers. But I can't help feeling that, from a production point of view, if she is to be a new hero in her own right, surely she would have her own iconic sword at her side ?

On another note, it is a little worrying - from a story-telling point of view - that the writer-director of The Force Awakens who cryptically introduced the 'Knights of Ren' will return them to the story having been conspicuously absent from The Last Jedi. Unless there is valid explanation and justification either in the film (or alas in the support material), this move might feel indulgent and show once again that the LFL Story Group might not have had a singular overall arc for this chapter of the Saga.

Through December there were lots of rumours surfacing about the new show currently in production, The Mandalorian. Fansite MSW believes that a sandcrawler and jawa costumes seen on set confirm that the primary location is indeed Tatooine ; MSW also possibly revealed another character detail, if not the plot macguffin, in the shape of a baby that the Mandalorian warrior should kill but doesn't, and who then in fact carries and/or guards ; fansite SWNN posted rumours that the OT bounty hunters IG-88 and Bossk might have roles, and even indicates that veteran actor Nick Nolte will voice an ugnaught ??!

Three official confirmations for The Mandalorian came from SW.com and the producer-director Jon Favreau : the cast was confirmed including Pedro Pascal and Gina Carano and Nick Nolte, as well as the show's composer will be Ludwig Goransson ; and the bounty hunter droid IG-88 will indeed be in the show !

The virtual edition Episode VII : Plague of Doom continues as our heroes slip through disused periphery mining tunnels to access the main complex.
Han Solo leads his wife Leia, with the droids Artoo Deetoo and See Threepio following, while Master Jedi Luke Skywalker guards their rear.
