The Prophecy
And in time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as : THE SON OF THE SUN.
And he shall bring Balance to the Force.

Real lightsabre fencing !
31st July 2023
At the end of July, my 15 year old son and I had the opportunity to experience a two hour taster session learning 'Lightsabre Ludo' ! The teacher and his assistants led us through the formalised fencing styles of 'Form I', 'Form II', and 'Form III' as introduced in the reference material of Star Wars, and briefly illustrated the acrobatic dynamism of 'Form IV' and 'Form V'.

'Form I' is the formal engarde stance, followed by side and overhead attacks, and the corresponding defence parries against those attacks.

'Form II' is the one-handed side attacks and lunges.

'Form III' is more counter-attack, with defence parries and moves involving your hands to bat away your opponent's sword hand(s).

It was great fun, and really brought to life the concept of 'real' lightabre duelling ! At the end of the session was a 'tournament' of free duelling, where we all tried to apply some of the moves we had learnt !

The latest artwork for the illustrated virtual edition of Episode VII : Plague of Doom presents Darth Monstross ending the life of Commander Kane, his force powers augmented and supported from the side by Darth Kayos.
Soon after, the Sith Lords are alerted to Luke Skywalker's entry into the Palace...

You can see the VE artwork in the 'Coruscant' art gallery as well as in the online illustrated story, and you can discuss this in the forum here !

As I did with the progression of the Virtual Edition Episode X, I will post below sections of the prose for Episode XI as I draft it....

Chekkel stepped through the dark portal that was the glassy facade of the standing stone and onto the dimly lit squelch of the fetid fungal moss underfoot. Just behind him, Jenna also exited the black mirror, and one by one, the rest of his meagre and motley crew did the same. A Human, a Rodian, an Umbaran, and three others.

Hints of jungle flora loomed all around, and the glimpses of twilight sky beyond revealed grey clouds scudding fast in high atmospheric winds. Moisture dripped off wide leaves onto the spongy earth crawling with insects. A serpent coiled around a low branch shifted languidly, raising its head in the direction of the newcomers. As if to illustrate the dread and horror of the locale, several stabs of lightning slashed across the heavens, and thunder rumbled in unison with the chitters and shrieks of the fearsome creatures that shared this space with the erstwhile Troig pirates.

All seven bore a sallow appearance, their frames thin and gaunt. Yet they carried themselves with ease and strength, contradicting the assumption that they were elderly or ill or dying. They fanned out around the glade, the nexus of which was the black portal stone. The foliage swayed in the wind, the branches creaking in concert. Several paths radiated off the dell, but their routes were soon obscured by the darkness of the dense jungle. Chekkel’s crew remained standing, as if waiting on a command.

A bulbous dark grey creature crashed through undergrowth nearby and scurried past on thin jointed legs. Tentacles and claws and gills adorned it at various points. As quickly as it had appeared it disappeared into more ground foliage.

Chekk took a breath, fear of what he now regarded as home instinctively building inside him. Regardless of how many times he and his crew returned here, the place – magically off-chart – would always give him the creeps. Yet, what he and his brother and sister had comfortably called The Buzz, and which he now understood to be the Cosmic Energy of the Ash, also known as the Force, enveloped him with a warm cocoon, and he knew intuitively no harm would befall them. His palpable fear fed that sense of security, it sharpened his senses, and he knew their arrival had not gone unnoticed.

Welcome back my young friendsss.

The voice reverberated about them and also deep inside their minds. It was not a deep booming intonation, but rather a sound closer to a sibilant whisper, insidious and infective. There was no one else present, and the former pirates were fully cognizant of this.

As one, the crew answered aloud : “Master.”
