ILMxLab releases Jakku VR tour !

The Official Site released a clever virtual reality tour of the starship debris field on the new desert planet of Jakku. Frustratingly restricted to certain browsers, though re-edited videos have since appeared here & here, the viewer can utilise a 360 degree option to look around themselves whilst they are flying the speeder ! This panorama presents the 'starship graveyard' that Rey has made her home in the upcoming Episode VII : The Force Awakens. The technology has been developed by LFL's ILMxLAB, produced primarily to pre-vis potential stories and environments for film directors, as well as re-invent interactive entertainment.
The novel presentation, though apparently not the first of its kind, even caught the attention of mainstream media, such as the UK's BBC.
Fan Site SW7News subsequently listed a handful of TFA 'Easter Eggs' that were hidden within the video, including BB8, and the scavenger Teedo and his LugaBeast.

| Fan site MakingStarWars revealed what might be the TFA character name for the venerable actor Max von Sydow : Lor San Tekka is in possession of information vital to the quest of finding the elusive Luke Skywalker, and is sought out by Resistance pilot Poe Dameron. What's surprising is that, from what I can recall, early on many spy indications hinted that the elderly actor was playing an already existing character carried over from either the OT or the PT. Only a few more months, and we'll all know the true details !!

| Fan site SW7News reported that Rogue One actor Mads Mikkelsen had been spotted in Iceland, and further reports confirmed that filming for the first of the 'Star Wars Story Anthology' films was taking place on the Atlantic island, as well as at Pinewood Studios in the UK.

The Official Site recently confirmed the publication of two tie-ins for Episode VII The Force Awakens : scheduled to accompany the release of the new movie, the 'Art of The Force Awakens' book will present the creative story "from the earliest gathering of artists and production designers at Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco to the fever pitch of production at Pinewood Studios to the conclusion of postproduction at Industrial Light & Magic, including interviews, unused concept art, production paintings, concept sketches, storyboards, blueprints, and matte paintings.
Also scheduled for release on the 18th of December is the CD album of John Williams' music for The Force Awakens, while a second CD release will be a 'deluxe' edition, with a "digipack and booklet".

| At the end of the month, StarWars.Com announced that Sony Classical would re-release the music for the current six Star Wars episode movies. Occurring in January 2016, this will be a re-issue of the three double albums of the OT music, and the three single albums of the PT music ; an edition will also feature interviews with John Williams and Harrison Ford, and a re-release of the 'Musical Journey' that accompanied the Episode III release and which became the Live Concert production. Sadly, considering The Phantom Menace was promoted with both a single and a double CD album, the PT episodes will not showcase the full scores !

| In addition, I've been working feverishly at the script drafting for the Virtual Edition Episode IX 'Duel of the Fates'. I seem to have set myself the 'challenge' of completing the story - if not the scripting ! - before the Official Episode VII is released in mid December !! Recently, I've been elaborating on Leia's journey in the Netherworld, as well as discovering that re-positioning a sub-plot can potentially have quite an effect - hopefully beneficial ! - on the overall story : the Kashyyyk mission had a genuine and significant plot and climax, but its resolution was always in addition to the more related plots' conclusions ; by moving the action for the Wookiees forward and earlier into the story, their outcome can have a more direct affect on the other characters in the subplots. Likewise, where the opening scene on Corellia was very much a stand-alone drama, I've since returned to an earlier concept of intercutting it with the start of the other characters' plots. This helps introduce the other heroes earlier, and breaks up the exposition and action on Corellia in hopefully a more exciting way. |
